At Space Pets Rescue and Rehoming, we’re dedicated to finding loving forever homes for every animal that comes into our care. All of our animals are placed into foster homes before beginning their rehoming journey. Our fosterers play a vital role in raising, socialising, handling, and caring for each pet, ensuring they are confident, healthy, and ready for adoption. Without the commitment and compassion of our foster network, our work simply wouldn’t be possible.
We cover all veterinary bills, food, medical care, and supplies, so fosterers never have to pay anything out of pocket. All we ask is that you can offer a warm home, a soft blanket, and a safe space for an animal who needs your help.
Our fosterers come from all backgrounds and support a wide range of needs - from hand‑rearing, to senior fostering, medical fostering, and those happy to take on any animal that suits their lifestyle. There is no commitment obligation, and we will only place an animal with you that fits your schedule, experience, and home environment.
We provide 24/7 support, and fosterers also have access to a welcoming group chat where they can share updates, ask questions, and follow the journeys of all our foster animals

What are the main steps to foster for Space Pets?
Our fostering application is simple and clear:
1. Apply: Complete our fostering form here
2. Initial chat: An in depth call to discuss your suitability and availability
4. Home check: We'll visit to ensure a safe and loving environment and see the available space.
5. Setting up: We will get you supplied with all the equipment needed for you to start fostering
6. Meeting your foster: Once we have a suitable foster pet we'll drop them to you to get settled into their temporary home
What kind of Foster home are you looking for?
We are looking for fosterers who understand that fostering is a journey, not a race. While some of our animals come from loving homes, many arrive with difficult or traumatic pasts and may need more time, patience, training, or care than the average pet. Watching a foster animal grow, heal, and learn to trust again is one of the most rewarding experiences - and we’re looking for people who value that process.
Our ideal fosterers are patient, open‑hearted, and committed to giving an animal the time they need to feel safe. Fostering involves preparing each pet for their future home, helping them build confidence, learn routines, and feel secure. We’re looking for people who understand the dedication involved and who can offer a calm, supportive environment where an animal can truly thrive.
What's the most important aspect of your foster process?
Our fostering process is thorough, thoughtful, and centred around safety - for both the animal and the foster home. The most important part of fostering is clear communication and honest assessment. We make sure our fosterers have a full, accurate understanding of the animal needing a space, so there are no surprises when they arrive.
Every animal is assessed for temperament and behaviour before placement. We are strict with our risk assessments and safety policies, ensuring that each foster home is matched appropriately and responsibly. This allows our fosterers to feel confident, supported, and prepared, and ensures each animal is placed in an environment where they can thrive.
Fostering works best when everyone is informed, supported, and aligned — and that’s exactly what we prioritise.
Do you allow people in flats, with children or other pets, or working to foster?
Yes - we consider all fostering applications. Our focus is always on matching each foster animal to the right home, not limiting who can apply.
We already successfully place animals with individuals living in flats, families with children, homes with existing pets, and people who don’t work from home, provided suitable arrangements are in place for the animal’s wellbeing. Every foster placement is based on the animal’s needs, temperament, and behaviour, as not every pet is the same.
We provide full support to all fosterers, including training, handling advice, and ongoing guidance throughout the fostering journey. Our aim is to make fostering accessible, supported, and safe for both the animal and the foster home.
